Many Liverpool homes have stairlifts sold under the thyssenkrupp name. The business that made them was thyssenkrupp Home Solutions and is now called TK Home Solutions, so you may see either name on your lift or paperwork. If your stairlift has stopped, is beeping or shows an error, we can put you through to an independent engineer who works on these lifts across Merseyside.
We are an independent enquiry service. We are not thyssenkrupp or TK Home Solutions and are not connected with either; the names are used only to describe the equipment we help with.
Warranty or service plan? Contact them first
If your lift is still under warranty, or you have a service plan with TK Home Solutions or the installer, call them first. The repair may be covered, and outside work could affect your cover.
Council-provided lifts usually have repairs handled by the council’s provider during the warranty period. See our council stairlift repairs guide.
Models you may have
Engineers see models such as:
| Model | Type |
|---|---|
| Flow X | Curved stairlift, often used on tight or spiral stairs |
| Citia | Stairlift for straight or curved stairs |
| S200 | Straight stairlift |
Older thyssenkrupp models are also still in use. A photo or the label on the lift helps the engineer identify yours.
Common faults
Error codes and beeping
These lifts often show a code or give a beep pattern when something is wrong. Some messages just mean the chair is not charging or the seat is not in position. Others point to a fault an engineer needs to look at. Our stairlift beeping guide covers the usual causes and safe checks.
Battery and charging problems
If the chair is not parked at a charging point, or the wall supply is off, the batteries run flat. Older batteries may stop holding charge altogether. See stairlift battery replacement.
Safety edge stops
The lift will stop if a safety edge touches something. Clear the stairs, including loose items on the treads. If it still stops with nothing there, a switch may be faulty.
Curved lift problems on the Flow X
Curved lifts like the Flow X have a more complex rail and drive. Noise, jerky movement or stopping on the bends should be checked by an engineer. Read more about curved stairlift repair.
Seat position
If the seat is not locked in the travel position, the lift will not move. Check it is fully turned and clicked into place.
For safe things to try before calling, see stairlift not working.
What an engineer checks
- Power, key switch and charging contacts
- Battery health
- Error codes and beep patterns
- Safety edges, seat and footrest switches
- Remotes
- Drive, rail and bends on curved lifts
You should be given a clear explanation and a price before any repair.
Parts
Some common parts such as batteries are often available to independent engineers. Certain model-specific parts, especially for curved lifts, may only be supplied by the manufacturer, and this can affect timing and cost. The engineer will explain this honestly.
Costs
Checkatrade’s Liverpool cost guide shows typical stairlift repairs at about £95 to £162, with an average of around £122. Repairs needing manufacturer parts may cost more. See our stairlift repair cost guide.
Before the engineer arrives
You can help the visit go faster by having a few details ready:
- the name on the lift (thyssenkrupp, TK Home Solutions or another) and the model if you know it
- whether it is straight or curved
- roughly how old it is, and when the batteries were last changed
- any code on the display, or how many times it beeps
- where it has stopped, and whether anything was on the stairs at the time
A photo of the chair and the label can be useful too. With these details, the engineer is more likely to bring the right parts and fix the problem in one visit, which keeps your costs down.
Areas covered
The engineers we work with cover Liverpool and the surrounding area, including Wavertree, Garston, Formby and Widnes. If someone is stuck upstairs, ask about emergency stairlift repair.
Frequently asked questions
Is thyssenkrupp the same as TK Home Solutions?
Yes, in this context. The stairlift business formerly called thyssenkrupp Home Solutions is now called TK Home Solutions, so you may see either name on your lift.
Are you thyssenkrupp or TK Home Solutions?
No. We are an independent enquiry service and are not affiliated with either. We connect you with independent local engineers.
Can you repair a Flow X curved stairlift?
We can put you through to engineers who work on curved lifts including the Flow X. Some parts may need to come from the manufacturer, which can affect timing.
My stairlift shows an error code. What should I do?
Note down the code, check the lift is on charge and the seat is locked, then call an engineer if the code stays. Do not open any covers.
Can these stairlifts be serviced by an independent engineer?
Yes, once any warranty or service plan has ended. See stairlift servicing.
