Fast, friendly stairlift repairs across Liverpool

When a stairlift stops working, the stairs can suddenly feel like a wall. Someone may be stuck upstairs, or a carer may be worrying about a parent getting to bed safely. That is why we keep things simple: one call, a real person, and a local engineer who knows stairlifts.

We are a Liverpool enquiry service for stairlift repair. We don’t sell you a new lift you don’t need. We connect you with independent engineers who repair, service and maintain the stairlifts already in people’s homes, from a straight lift in a Wavertree terrace to a curved rail in a Crosby semi.

What the engineers we work with can help with

All the main makes

Engineers covering Liverpool regularly work on Stannah, Handicare, Acorn, Brooks, TK (thyssenkrupp) and Otolift stairlifts. If you are not sure which make you have, look for a label on the carriage under the seat, or just describe it when you call.

What does a stairlift repair cost in Liverpool?

Prices depend on the fault and the part, but it helps to know the typical range before you call:

The engineer should always tell you the call-out charge and likely cost before starting work. Our stairlift repair cost guide explains what affects the price.

Before you call: three quick checks

Many “broken” stairlifts are not broken at all. Before booking a repair, it is worth checking:

  1. Is it on charge? Make sure the stairlift is parked at the top or bottom of the stairs, on the charging point, and that the plug socket is switched on.
  2. Is the seat locked straight? Most stairlifts will not move if the swivel seat is not turned back and locked in the travel position.
  3. Is anything touching the safety edges? A slipper, bag or cable touching the footrest or carriage will stop the lift for safety.

If those are fine, our stairlift not working guide and stairlift beeping guide cover the next steps. Never open the covers or try to move the lift by hand.

Council-provided stairlift?

If Liverpool City Council fitted your stairlift and it is still under warranty, repairs normally go through the council’s provider rather than a private engineer. Our council stairlift repairs guide explains who to contact and when a private engineer makes sense.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can someone come out to fix my stairlift?

It depends on the engineer’s diary and where you are. Engineers aim to see breakdowns quickly, and if someone is stuck or cannot get upstairs, say so when you call so it can be prioritised.

Do you repair all makes of stairlift?

The engineers we work with repair most domestic stairlifts, including Stannah, Handicare, Acorn, Brooks, TK (thyssenkrupp) and Otolift, both straight and curved. See brands we repair.

How much is a stairlift call-out?

In Liverpool, a typical repair costs £95 to £162 according to Checkatrade, with an average of about £122. Your engineer will confirm the price before any work starts.

Are you the manufacturer?

No. We are an independent local service. If your stairlift is still under a manufacturer or council warranty, contact them first, because a private repair could affect that cover.

Which areas do you cover?

Liverpool and the surrounding areas, including Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens, Widnes and the Wirral. See all areas we cover.

My stairlift keeps beeping. Is it broken?

Often it is just not charging. Check it is parked on the charging point and the socket is on. Our stairlift beeping guide explains the common causes.
